PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India. This scheme intends to develop 14,500 schools as PMSHRI schools across the country and are managed by central/State/Local Bodies, including KVS and NVS. These schools are envisioned as exemplar schools mandated to showcase all aspects of the National Education Policy (2020) in the field of School Education.

In addition to NCERT and AICTE, the National Centre for School Leadership-NIEPA provided academic support to Orientation cum Capacity Building Workshop for Resource Persons on School Leadership Development for Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India (PMSHRI) schools in the year F.Y. 2024-2025. These resource persons would then handhold PMSHRI schools in their respective State/UT.

These workshops were conducted in 15 cycles, covered 18 States and Union Territories and built leadership capacities of 1313 master resource persons between 06.05.2024 and 03.07.2024. The workshops were successfully held on thematic areas identified by DoSE&L, Ministry of Education, prominent being as PMSHRI mandate, mental health, school leadership, leadership competencies PMSHRI action plans, self-defence skills, vocational, digital, clean and green schools, and also highlighted new initiative such as inter-disciplinary approaches to teaching-learning processes. These resource persons are then expected to handhold PMSHRI schools in the respective States/UTs in the coming months.

Further, the National Centre for School Leadership NIEPA developed a Booklet on School Leadership Development for PMSHRI Schools (2025) in English and Hindi, which will help to contribute to the nationwide Capacity Development of resource persons for hand-holding PMSHRI schools.
