ABOUT US

The School Leadership Academies (SLAs) are dedicated institutional spaces for strengthening the leadership landscape at the State and Union Territory levels. Established as an extended arm of the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), NIEPA, the SLAs integrate meaningful research, practice, and policy to cultivate leadership that drives sustainable, transformative outcomes in education. Working under the supervision of the NCSL, the School Leadership Academies play a critical role in translating the national framework into local practice, supporting school leaders, administrators, and system-level functionaries to drive meaningful changes in diverse school contexts. The idea behind this decentralised framework is to contextualise leadership ideals across the country. The SLAs envision schools as thriving institutions of excellence, equity, and innovation. By investing in leadership at every level, SLAs aim to transform schools into dynamic centres of learning and positive social impact. Guided by a commitment to professionalism, evidence-based practice, and a shared purpose, the quintessence of the School Leadership Academies lies in aiding the National Centre for School Leadership in bringing about holistic school reforms.

At present, 31 School Leadership Academies are operational across the States and UTs, driving meaningful school leadership reforms within their respective jurisdictions.
