National Centre for School Leadership
The School Leadership Academy (SLA) of Manipur was established in 2018 at State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) as an extended arm of National Centre of School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) for conducting regular school leadership activities in the State to transform ordinary schools into schools of excellence. The Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Government of Manipur had been identified as Head of the Academy. State Council of Educational Research and Training in collaboration with National Centre of School Leadership, NIEPA had initiated the School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) with the prime purpose of transforming ordinary schools into schools of excellence, eventually bringing improvement in the entire school system through leadership development. Some of the key achievements under the SLA has been successful organization of the One Month Certificate Course on School Leadership and Management in the past years, with the translated NCSL Curriculum/Syllabus and Handbook on School Leadership Development. The academy conducted training for State Resource Group members and Secondary and Higher Secondary Head Teachers. SLA also developed many video documentaries and case studies showcasing the transformation in schools led by heads who completed the program. Moreover, SLA translated the online modules, launched an official YouTube channel for easy access to materials and organized a webinar series during the COVID-19 pandemic for school heads to share their experiences. SLA, Manipur remains committed to implementing future activities as directed by NCSL, NIEPA.
