The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Mizoram, was designated as School Leadership Academy (SLA) on 23rd February, 2016. Several programmes and activities have been conducted to enhance School Leadership Development under the direction of the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). The School Leadership Academy, SCERT, organised multiple workshops, training sessions, including capacity building workshops for the State Resource Groups, School Heads and a One Month Certificate Course in School Leadership and Management. As part of the development of learning materials, the National Programme Design & Curriculum Framework and Handbook on School Leadership Development were translated into the Mizo language and online modules on School Leadership Development in regional languages were developed and published as books. Online Programme on School Leadership and Management booklet prepared by NCSL, NIEPA was translated into the Mizo language. Case studies, video documentation of schools, and live streaming events featuring State Teacher Awardees are part of some other initiatives taken up by SLA, Mizoram. The programme was live-streamed on the SLA official YouTube channel and the same was aired on Doordarshan Kendra, Mizoram. An online version of the One Month Certificate Course in School Leadership and Management was offered, and the Basic Level Online Programme on School Leadership and Management (PSLM) in the Mizo language was also organised, making the programme accessible in eight different regional languages. Another important initiative taken up by the SLA, Mizoram, is hosting a talk show under the programme for Continuous Professional Development. The title of the talk show is “Leading with a Purpose” with a key speaker from Government Aizawl College.
