National Centre for School Leadership
The School Leadership Academy (SLA) was established at State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland in 2017 with support from the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). The School Leadership Academy, Nagaland is committed to building leadership capabilities of the School Heads, Chairman of School Management and Development Committee (SMDC)/School Management Committee (SMC)/Village Education Committee (VEC), Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) Coordinators, Assistant Coordinators of Samagra Shiksha and other school functionaries of the 16 districts of Nagaland. There are approximately 4000 Principals, Vice-principals, Headmasters, Assistant Headmasters, Head Teachers, Teacher- in-Charge, SMDC/SMC/VEC Chairman, EBRC Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators of Samagra Shiksha in the State. SLA, Nagaland actively executes a variety of initiatives aimed at enhancing school leadership. It has organized training programs for principals, vice-principals, headmasters, assistant headmasters, head teachers, teachers-in-charge and key personnel involved in school management. SLA has also developed handbooks and training modules on school leadership, documenting the work of school leaders and sharing these insights through videography on the NCSL portal. Furthermore, the SLA has launched a YouTube channel, "SLA Nagaland SCERT," featuring short educational videos. The academy is collecting best practices through case studies from school leaders, strengthening connections between NCSL, NIEPA and Nagaland’s school leaders. Additionally, SLA developed a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) module, recording 50 hours of CPD in accordance with NEP 2020. Moreover, SLA plans to propose a one-month certificate course as a compulsory requirement for all school heads in Nagaland.
