JOURNEY OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The School Leadership Academy (SLA) was established in the year 2016 in Sikkim. Ever since its inception, SLA in collaboration with National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) has been very proactive and has conducted several programmes each year to achieve its objectives of building the capacities of school heads thereby enabling them to become efficient school leaders. State Resource Group was identified leading to the formation of a core group under the School Leadership Academy. A 10-day workshop for Capacity Building of the State Resource Group was conducted to strengthen leadership at the grassroots. This was followed by a "Regional Workshop on School Leadership Development and Teacher Development," where a roadmap for school transformation was discussed. Resource persons were trained in a workshop to conduct a "One Month Certificate Course on School Leadership Management," which was later offered to school heads. Orientation sessions were organized for headmasters and principals to develop video documentaries showcasing schools with remarkable changes. Case studies of these schools were created and modules on school leadership were developed to further institutionalize leadership best practices.
