National Centre for School Leadership
The State of West Bengal had identified the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) as the School Leadership Academy (SLA) in the year 2019. This School Leadership Academy is continuously providing support to the collaborative efforts of the National Centre of School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), which is committed to building leadership capabilities of School Heads for change and development of elementary and secondary education in India. With budgetary support from NCSL-NIEPA, SCERT prepared a digital booklet of case studies in the year 2020. In the year 2022, an activity book (state-specific) within the framework of the National Programme Design and Curriculum Framework of NCSL was developed by SCERT. This work was carried out with active cooperation from newly formed core group members of SLA. The three key areas covered in the module were Perspective on School Leadership, Developing Self & Building and Leading Teams. During the year 2023–2024, SLA, West Bengal, undertook the compilation of a repository of 13 case studies, collected from the reconstituted Core Group members of SLA, West Bengal. This compilation has been prepared by SCERT (WB). The themes for these case studies include the use of technology in classrooms, implementing skill-based and vocational education, behavioral problems of teenage students, and a rooftop garden initiative, among others. The studies conclude by highlighting the outcomes and corroborating the positive changes that have taken place in schools. As part of curriculum and material development activities, SLA has embarked on the development of a second activity book. The second activity book focuses on the topic Transforming the Teaching-Learning Process, which aligns with Key Area 3 of the National Programme Design and Curriculum Framework of NCSL. School Leadership Academy, West Bengal, endeavors to collaborate with NCSL, NIEPA in carrying out future activities in the state.
