Acknowledgements

The National Conference on Leadership Pathways for School Improvement organized by
the National Centre for School Leadership, NIEPA, is first of its kind, bringing together

around 49 practicing heads of government schools and researchers to share, analyze and
document outstanding leadership practices and journeys of school heads in diverse and

challenging contexts of India. The thrust is mainly on building school leaders as a critical
mass to bring about change in the schools and own the responsibility of school

improvement. We are deeply grateful to the Ministry of Human Resource and Development

for their continuous support and guidance to School Leadership Development of
government and aided schools across the country. In our endeavour to implement this path

breaking initiative we acknowledge the support provided by State/UT governments at each
step since the inception of the programme. We are thankful to Prof. N.V.Varghese, Vice

Chancellor, NIEPA for his guidance and encouragement. Last but not the least, we put on
record our deepest gratitude to all the school heads and researchers who have

enthusiastically participated to make this National Conference a success.
