Abstract
Children studying in this school belong to socio-economically disadvanataged families,
comprising of labourers, farmers, potters etc. In addition, 70% children in the school
are from the scheduled caste community. In the present context where small children
are most vulnerable in terms of sexual harassment and news is flooded with all kinds of
heinous crime against children, this initiative was begun by the name of ―Good touch,
Bad touch‖- discussed the issue of child abuse with fellow teachers, so that it can be
communicated in a fearless and easy to understand language, differentiated between
good, bad and secret touch - making students aware of various forms of harassment, use
of dolls to explain in detail, during workshops, insisted that students must assert their
right to say NO when approached in a ―secret‖ manner and developed a learning Corner
for students where students read books. She used story telling as a powerful medium to
communicate educational and socially relevant messages, have been accorded voice
space in class 7 Hindi textbook (QR code).
