School Leadership Academy (SLA) was established in the year 2018 in State Institute of School Leadership and Educational Planning and Management (SISLEP), Karnataka. The School Leadership Academy is endeavouring to build leadership capacities of all government primary and secondary schools in all 34 districts of the State. Before establishment of SLA, SISLEP conducted School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) in coordination with National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). The academy would work with system level functionaries i.e., cluster to district level educational leaders and guide them in providing academic support to schools for improving learning outcomes. From 2019 to 2022, SLA has been implementing plans and activities as designed by the NCSL, NIEPA. Workshops were organized for the Head Teachers of Government Primary and Secondary Schools to understand the roles and responsibilities of SLA and also introduce 7 key areas of the NCSL framework. Over the years, SLA Karnataka has developed videos documenting best practices of Government Primary and Secondary Schools which were uploaded in the NCSL website. SLA, Karnataka launched an Online Programme on School Leadership and Management (PSLM) at basic level and developed modules in Indian language. It was uploaded in the NCSL Website. The Basic Online Certificate Course saw active participation from Government Secondary School Head Teachers. Many webinars were organized for Block Education Officers and senior lecturers of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) on Educational Leadership.
