Though Karaikudi is an educational city, the students of my school are coming from
economically backward class. Most of the children are brought up by single parent. Almost all of
our parents are working as sweepers, Scavengers, security, auto drivers and daily wages. The
educational status of the parents is at primary level or illiterate.

Locality from which the students are coming is just like slum area. Most of our students are from
               socially economically, educationally backward class.

I had taken charge as Head Teacher of this school on14.12.2013. The student‘s strength at that
time was only 218. But in this academic year (2018-19) our strength is 1192.

                                                                                                           .

                                              Challenges for the School head

Major challenge we faced is that my school is the only government school in that locality which
is surrounded by high profiled privated schools. We had to attract the students towards the
government school from the private sector.

 Parent and children feel inferior to study in the government school.

 Residential area of the students, their culture, language, slang, mannerism, way
of dressing, behaviour is totally changed when compared to the private school.

 Though the school is at the main place, area allotted for the school is minimum
and number of classrooms and space for children recreation is also minimum.
 I had to earn the hope of the parents that the government can do things better
                                than private schools.
