and critiques in future and in developing reading habits among the younger

The School Head acknowledged the SLDP programme, how it has enriched
him personally in terms of knowledge and skills to manage the school
effectively and in solving the problems of the school. Effort is being made with
the help of SMCs to improve the strength from 94 students to 250-300
students, which is a priority issue.
A series of discussions were held with Village sarpanch, SMCs and parents
to win the confidence on the school among the local community. With the
help of teaching staff, visits were made to neighboring villages and met the
parents and pursued them to join in their school. They convinced the parents
that less strength in the school is blessing in disguise, which helps to give more
individual attention to the needy students. The parents assured that they will
join the students in the coming academic year. The school has conducted
cultural activities in school premises mainly to impress the parents that their
school is working for all round development of the students. It is hoped all
these efforts will be helpful to improve the school enrolment.
Another pertinent issue the school is facing is students’ absenteeism, out of
94 students, normally the attendance will be between 80-85. To tackle this
issue, the school staff started convincing the parents not to send the children
for work at the cost of schooling and sensitized how frequently absenteeism
effects the academics. To check the absenteeism and academic improvement,
adoption of students by teaching staff is being practiced. Though the HM
expressed difficulties in overcoming the above issues, exudes optimism on the
future growth of the school.
